Lewiston is the third largest town in Trinity County by population. It is home to the Lewiston Lake which controls the flow of the Trinity River. Lewiston is located 25 minutes from Weaverville off highway 299. Elevation is only slightly over 1,800 ft above sea level. Real estate in Lewiston can be priced as low as $20,000 for small parcels to full ranches in the million dollar range. There are many different types of property available: single family homes in the town near the school and park, raw land, small acreage parcels with homes, properties on the river, larger ranches and everything in-between.
Lewiston is located in the eastern part of Trinity County. It is a 15 minute drive to Douglas City or 10 minutes further down highway 299 to Weaverville. Lewiston is the third most populated town in Trinity County with 1,236 people. To get to larger stores for supplies and shopping, you would take the 40 minute drive East on Highway 299 to Redding.
Gardening is great here with Lewiston located in the 8a and 8b zone according to the USDA hardiness chart. Elevation is about 1800 ft.
If you are growing cannabis you will need to do some research before purchasing. Lewiston has some "no-grow" zones and special regultaions on cultivation in addition to state and county compliance.
Lewiston has a vibrant community and features the Lewiston Lake and reservoir for great family fun and unlimited outdoor recreation. The dam on Lewiston Lake controls the flow on the Trinity River. You'll enjoy swimming, fishing and even small boats here, just no jets skis, personal watercraft, etc. If you drive a little north however, you'll find Trinity Center and Trinity Lake, a much larger lake which allows water sports, jet ski's and even more water fun. You can also head towards Redding where you'll find Whiskeytown Lake.
There is a great school for the kids, annual fairs, concerts, live entertainment and has a nice fireworks display off the Historic Lewiston Bridge every Fourth of July. There are several campgrounds around the lake and Pine Cove Marina for your boating needs. You can take Rush Creek Road to Highway 3 to get to Trinity Center from here. Beyond that you will find Coffee Creek at the foot of the Trinity Alps.
